Amigurumi crochet pattern *Pinky the little pig** Free for the fall

Pinky is a lovable baby piglet who I created for my daughters.

She measures 18cm long and 15cm wide with ears. You will find photos and charts beside the instruction for easier understanding. The pattern is written in US terms. I included a separate amigurumi techniques file to explain the crochet techniques used that will help to make Pinky. You will need mercerized cotton yarn for her body and embroidery thread for her eyes. Please note: pinky’s eyes are made with thinner yarn and smaller hook. If you decide to make it with the same weight of yarn as the body, her eyes will be bigger.

What you need:

2.5 and 1.5mm crochet hook
Cotton yarn (Scheepjes Catona or Catania, etc. 2x Light Pink, 1x Dark pink, 1x Off white)
Embroidery thread for eyes (DMC or Anchor or Puppet, etc. 1x black, 1xwhite, 1xgrey)
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Stuffing

What you need:

2.5mm crochet hook for the cotton yarn
Mercerized cotton yarn (Scheepjes Catona or Catania)
+ 2x Light Pink (80g)
+1x Dark pink (20g)
+1x Off white (20g) or light blue (20g)
1.5mm crochet hook for the embroidery yarn
Embroidery yarn for eyes (DMC or Anchor or Puppet)
+1x Black, 1x white, 1x grey
Tapestry needle, scissors, (optional: sewing pins)

Crocheting Pinky

Head:

Start with nose. Use dark pink cotton yarn. See chart below.

Ch9.

Round 1 inc into 2nd ch from hook, sc1 into next 6ch, 4sc into last ch, turn and continue on the other side of 6ch, sc1 into back of each 6ch, inc into next ch [20sts]
Round 2 2inc, sc3, inc, sc3, 3inc, sc2, sc3tog, sc2, inc [25sts]
Round 3 sc1, inc, sc1, inc, sc4, inc, sc4, inc, sc1, inc, sc1, inc, sc2, dec, sc2, inc [31sts]

Eyes:

Use 1.5mm crochet hook with embroidery thread.

Right eye: Start with black of the eye. Use black embroidery thread.

Round 1 6sc into MR [6sts]
Round 2 inc around [12sts]
Round 3 (sc1, inc) repeat around [18sts]
Round 4 (sc2, inc) repeat around [24sts]
Round 5 (sc3, inc) repeat around [30sts]
Round 6 (sc4, inc) repeat around [36sts] Cut black yarn, leaving long tail for sewing and embroidery. Change to grey embroidery thread.
Row 7 (sc5, inc) 3 times, sc3 [24sts] Cut grey yarn, change to white embroidery thread. Pick up stitch at the beginning of previous row. At grey sts, sc into BLO! Row 8 (sc6, inc) 3 times, sc6 [30sts]

Sl into next st. Cut white thread, leaving long tail for sewing and embroidery.

Left eye:

Start with black of the eye. Use black embroidery thread.

Round 1 6sc into MR [6sts]
Round 2 inc around [12sts]
Round 3 (sc1, inc) repeat around [18sts]
Round 4 (sc2, inc) repeat around [24sts]
Round 5 (sc3, inc) repeat around [30sts]
Round 6 sc2, inc, (sc4, inc) 5 times, sc2 [36sts] Cut black yarn, leaving long tail for sewing and embroidery. Change to grey embroidery thread.
Row 7 sc3, (inc, sc5) 3 times [24sts] Cut grey yarn, change to white embroidery thread. Pick up stitch at the last increase of Round 6. At grey sts, sc into BLO!
Row 8 (sc6, inc) 3 times, sc5 [30sts] Sl into BL of next grey st. Cut white yarn, leaving long tail for sewing and embroidery.

Embroider reflection to eyes using the white yarn. Sew in all ends except the black and white long string.

Assembling Pinky

Use tapestry needle.

Optional; sewing pins to hold pieces together.

1. Stuff body firmly. Sew head onto body

- Attach back of the body to Round 29 of the back of the head.
- Attach front of the body to Round 18 of the front of the head.

2. Attach eyes;

Right eye:
- Start with the white, begin attaching right eye at Round 10 inc.
- Attach black part with black yarn.
Left eye:
- Start with the white, begin attaching left eye at Round 10, before the increase.
- Attach black part with black yarn.

3. Embroider mouth; Top of the mouth should be 8sts apart, and should go 3 rows down

4. Attach ears; Ears should be facing you. Bottom of ears should be 1cm away from eyes, top should be 1.5cm away from eyes.

5. Attach legs;

Legs should be 11sts apart from each other.
Start in the middle, sew FLO of legs.
When you have 10sts to go, stuff legs with stuffing.

6. Attach arms;

Top starts at Round 33 of body, bottom is at Round 27 of body
When you have 10sts to go, stuff arms with stuffing.

7. Attach tail;

Start at the bottom of the ring of the tail, attach to Round 18 of diaper.

The top of the ring should be at Round 20. Weave in all ends.
